What is vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to modify the structure of the vagina. The results can vary based on individual factors. This cosmetic surgery, also known as vaginal rejuvenation tightens the lax muscles and tissues in the front or back of the vaginal canal walls, to create a smaller, tighter vaginal canal. Vaginoplasty can be performed as an elective surgery or combined with other types of genital surgeries such as labioplasty.

What happens during vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that carries risks, like any other surgery. The comfort level during the procedure can vary based on individual factors. The procedure will depend on the purpose of the surgery and the desired outcome. There are various techniques used to achieve a successful designer vagina, the methods used will depend on the health conditions of the individual.

Things to consider about cosmetic genital surgery

It is important to note that while many women may have different underlying issues, they do share a common interest when they choose to undergo cosmetic genital surgery. The general end results for these surgeries are usually as follows:

  • Some women may experience an improvement in self-confidence following the procedure, but this can vary from person to person.
  • To tighten and restore the vagina. Over time, for various reasons, the vaginal tissues become lax due to different reasons, childbirth, age, or lifestyle. With vaginal rejuvenation, the vagina is restored. The size of the labia resumes to how it was prior.
  • Some women may find an improvement in comfort during daily activities following the procedure, but this can vary from person to person.
  • Some women may experience changes in their sexual experience following the procedure, but this can vary from person to person.

What happens before vaginoplasty?

Being prepared for your vaginoplasty surgery goes a long way to ensuring a smooth surgical procedure and a fast recovery with minimal side effects.

Having a detailed no obligation consultation with the team of Me Clinic  surgeons and consultants is your first step to better health care. We will advise you on the needs of the reconstructive surgery as well as offer recommendations to follow prior to the surgical procedure.

  • Health Assessment. We will check on your overall health and any existing health issues before proceeding.
  • Pain medication. You may be asked to stop certain pain medications before the surgery.
  • Keeping healthy. Eating well, exercising and quitting nicotine or other addictive substances aid in the body’s recovery time.
  • Emotional support. Prepare yourself emotionally for this procedure. Speak to family and friends so you have a support network to see you through the recovery process. Keep a diary as a way of journaling this milestone in your life.

What happens during vaginoplasty performed for women with childbirth injuries?

Many women suffer from a widened vaginal opening as a result of vaginal childbirth. Along with a wider vagina, some women also struggle with health care, like bladder issues such as urinary incontinence post childbirth. Stress placed on the pelvic floor causes the surrounding vagina muscles to thin leading to poor control of their urinary tract or urinary incontinence. Reconstructive surgery such as vaginoplasty is instrumental in improving women’s health.
