Silhouette Soft Thread Lift

June 01, 2018

Silhouette Soft threads are the most state of the art threads in the world. No Cutting. No Surgery. Minimal downtime.  The procedure is done usually within 30 minutes.

Dr Gordon Ku has performed hundreds of these procedures and regularly trains other doctors in this procedure.

What is a Silhouette Soft® Thread Lift?

Silhouette Soft® is a non-surgical innovation that refreshes the look of the aging face by tightening specific parts of the face and neck. It is done in such a simple and minimally invasive way, with little downtime.

What are the steps in a Silhouette Soft® Thread Lift Treatment?

  1. Pre-treatment Consultation

During your consultation, your physician will evaluate your cosmetic concerns and review your medical history.

As there are some risks associated with all treatments, you need to fully disclose your medical history prior to treatment. Some skin allergies and neurological conditions, or medications can jeopardise your safety or results.

  1. During the Treatment

Before conducting the treatment your physician will evaluate your needs and explain where the Silhouette Soft® sutures will be placed using a marking pen. The treated areas will be sterilised, and you may be given a topical anaesthetic to numb the area prior to the suture’s insertion.

Due to the sutures being inserted into the fat layer under the skin, there is relatively low level of discomfort during and after your treatment. Once the suture has been applied, the doctor performs slight moulding of the skin to reshape it by hand and to obtain the desired lifting effect. The non-inserted ends of the suture are cut off.

The number of sutures applied depends on the skin laxity and condition.

  1. Following the Treatment

The insertion of Silhouette Soft® elicits a minimal inflammatory reaction, this is normal and required. After placement patients may experience some slight side effects, This may include minor pain, swelling and bruising.

The retightening effect is immediate : thanks to bi-directional cones distributed over the suspension suture that keep the skin in an elevated position. The regenerative action is gradual : the main component of the suture (Polylactic acid: PLLA) during reabsorbtion stimulates the body so that it produces its own collagen. This action, which continues over time, restores the contours of the face and offers long term results.

Your physician will provide you with post-treatment recommendations and an aftercare programe to follow to ensure the best possible result.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Silhouette Soft® different to other types of “thread lifts”?

Silhouette soft threads, made in the USA, are the most superior type of threads on the market in terms of design and suture material, because the cone technology of Silhouette Soft provides 360 degrees of "catch" of the tissue to be lifted as opposed to most other types of threads on the market that are designed with "spikes".

Most of the other types of threads on the market are Korean-made PDO threads which provides minimal lifting and mostly causes  "scar tissue" formation rather than true collagen formation.

What are the components of Silhouette Soft®?

Silhouette Soft® monofilaments are made of Polylactic Acid (PLLA) while the cones are made of poly (L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA). They are two biocompatible polymers frequently used in medical devices for their outstanding tolerance in the body.

How can Silhouette Soft® be used safely?

Silhouette Soft® is subject to numerous sanitary controls. It has been developed after 6 years of research in permanent suspension sutures with cones used in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

With more than 150 000 treatments carried out so far, Silhouette Soft® has proven it’s safety and efficacy all over the world and is present in 70 countries.

Which areas can Be treated?

Silhouette Soft® can be used to treat various parts of the face:

  • Contours of the face
  • Jaw line

What happens immediately after Silhouette Soft® treatment?

Like all procedures of this type there is a possibility of side effects, although not everybody experiences them. These side effects include infection, minimal acute inflammatory tissue reaction, pain, swelling and oedema. Transient bruising may also occur. Sometimes, a slight depression or skin irregularity may appear at the entry points. These inconveniences should disappear a few days after treatment.

If you experience any side effects, you should talk to your doctor.
