Unwanted hair is a common problem for both women and men and is often a source of embarrassment and loss of confidence. With Laser technology the removal of unwanted hair is effective and gentle.
Laser Hair Removal is the best available solution for unwanted hair. Since only light is used it is non-invasive and does not cause the irritations typically found with some other hair removal methods.
We have over 30 years of Cosmetic Medicine experience and 20 years experience with Laser treatments. We use the latest generation Lasers and other Light devices that can treat patients with darker complexions as well as people with lighter hair colours which the older and inferior Laser machines could not treat.
With our advanced Laser technology the removal of unwanted hair is effective and gentle. We can choose from a number of our Lasers to ensure the correct Laser Hair Removal Treatment is performed for you.
Lasers are devices that amplify light and produce an intense and synchronised beam. Lasers operate on the principle of light absorption. It is similar in principle to dark colours absorbing more heat, than lighter colours that reflect the heat. Applying this principle to Laser Hair Removal, the laser beam is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair causing the energy to travel down the hair shaft to the root, where it retards hair growth or eradicates the root of the hair.
Both women and men can enjoy the improvements of Laser Hair Removal. Those with darker hair and fairer skin are the easiest to treat, due to the fact that darker hair absorbs the laser light more readily than lighter colours. However, our latest generation Laser technology means that people with lighter hair can also achieve excellent results.
Results vary amongst patients. While some of the hairs that have been treated will not regrow some will regrow much weaker and thinner and a number of treatments may be necessary to ensure that these do not return. The reason for this is that hairs need to be treated in their growing cycle rather than their resting cycle and only 60% are growing at any one time.
You are advised not to use an epilator, tweezers, wax, bleach, or depilatory creams to remove any of the hair to be treated.
After the initial consultation generally there is less irritation to the skin if you shave the night before a treatment.
If you are undergoing treatment with Roaccutane or Gold Therapy or have undertaken this in the last 6 months it is important that you let us know as these medications can make your skin susceptible to damage from the laser.
Following Laser Hair Removal some redness in the treated area is considered normal, but will subside in a day or so. To help minimise the effects we recommend that you:
Because the Laser treats hairs in the hair's growing phase, it usually takes between 6 and 8 sessions with approximately 4 weeks to 6 weeks in between each treatment. In some instances hair could be growing as a result of a medical condition and we can also treat and assist with this problem.
While the time taken is dependent on factors such as skin type and hair location you should be wary of Laser Clinics that promise results in fewer sessions than this. Our experience is that the best result takes time but is definitely worth it.
A no obligation consultation with one of our Clinicians or Aestheticians is essential so your skin can be examined and assessed for its suitability for Laser Hair Removal and which Laser type would work best.
