Do excessively large breasts create problems or discomfort for you? You may struggle to find bras that fit, have self-confidence issues, or neck pain and issues with standing up straight. Large breasts can create a range of complications, which inspire many women to search for solutions. In these cases, a potential solution can be found in the form of breast surgery known as the breast reduction using liposuction procedure.
With a breast reduction through liposuction (also known as the scarless breast lift), fat is removed from the breasts to reduce their size and increase the patient’s comfort. This procedure is not suitable for all women with oversized breasts, however, so read on to learn more about its suitability for you.
When is breast reduction by liposuction suitable?
If your breasts are larger in size due to an accumulation of fatty tissue, a liposuction procedure may be a suitable reduction method for you. In cases where glandular tissue is causing the size rather than fat, then liposuction will not be very effective. If skin needs to be removed then liposuction on it’s own is inappropriate.
The ideal candidate for a breast reduction through liposuction is usually women older than 35 with fatty breasts. Younger women with larger breasts tend to have more glandular tissue than fat. If you are a little overweight, your breasts may have a high-fat content. A mammogram can determine the amount of fat in your breasts.
What are the benefits of a breast reduction through liposuction?
While a breast reduction by liposuction will change how you look and feel, it may also provide pain relief for your back, neck and shoulders. Another benefit can be less skin irritation under the breasts, while living more comfortably with a more preferable size, shape and aesthetic.
Patients often experience greater movement and activity while experiencing a boost in confidence. You will be able to fit into smaller bras and clothing, enjoying a more comfortable fit. The shape and size of your breasts before undergoing surgery will affect the outcome of the procedure.
This 35 year old female had lost approx 12 kgs from diet and exercise. She wanted us to treat her problem areas that did not respond to her healthy lifestyle. She also wanted us to correct her sagging breasts with no scars.
We performed liposuction to the Abdomen, Back, Inner Thighs and also a Scarless Breast Lift. She was very happy with her new body shape and the results of the Scarless Breast Lift.
You are a good candidate for this procedure if your breasts are fully developed and creating negative elements in your life due to being oversized.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any risks involved with liposuction and breast reductions?
There is a range of standard risks applicable to any major surgery. These can involve:
- Risk of potential bleeding
- Adverse reactions to anaesthesia
- A loss of sensation in the nipples
- Uneven contour
The liposuction procedure has a proven safety record, which is why it is so widely used here in Australia and across the world.
All possible risks will be explained, in detail, during your consultation, inclusive of all the details of your surgery and recovery process.
What takes place during the procedure?
General anaesthesia will be used for this procedure, and small incisions will be made in specific locations on your breasts. From here, we utilise the liposuction technique to remove excess fat, lessening the size of your breasts.
After the procedure, a gauze dressing will be placed over the incisions, and you will be provided medication for pain relief along with antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. You will be required to wear a supportive bra for at least 4 weeks post surgery.
When can I get back to my normal schedule?
To ensure a quick and successful healing process, it would be best if you were to restrict physical activity for roughly two to four weeks. In some cases, it can take a few months for the swelling to subside and reveal the new look of your breasts.
It is completely normal to feel sore and bruised post-surgery, and your body will naturally return to normal over time.
