Many women have dieted and exercised for years yet stubborn fatty areas will not go away. In particular problem areas such tummies, waist, thighs and buttocks.
Liposuction is an effective and relatively safe procedure that can reduce these problem areas, while improving the shape and proportion of their bodies. It can also make a positive change in their lives.
Liposuction is a procedure where fat cells are extracted from problem areas of the body to decrease the volume and size of those areas.
Liposculpture is a refined form of liposuction for "body sculpting" of areas with excess fat in order to achieve more shape and contour.
We have over 35 years of Cosmetic Surgery experience, and we were one of the first clinics to perform Liposuction in Australia in the early 1980's. We have performed over 10,000 Liposuction procedures and thousands of other Cosmetic Surgery procedures.
Our reputation and experience is unparalleled.
The Liposuction techniques used by our Surgeons results in a relatively painless solution to treat these problem areas.
We most commonly use the Tumescent Liposuction technique, which is a procedure performed in a short period of time that offers a speedy recovery with minimal discomfort and bruising.
Diluted local anaesthetic and adrenalin are infused into the patient's problem fatty area, which causes numbness and minimises patient discomfort. A small incision is made in the problem area and the unwanted fat cells are extracted under vacuum through this incision with a small suction tube to reduce the size while our Surgeons sculpt and shape the body. This results in a relatively painless and easy removal of the unwanted fat cells.
Our Surgeons also use other Liposuction techniques:
Our Surgeons are constantly researching and developing better and more effective Liposuction techniques.
It seems that after puberty we do not create new fat cells. When you gain weight, you expand the fat cells you have. Liposuction decrease the fat cells to improve your body's contour. Should you gain weight after liposuction, it goes to the fat cells that are remaining in your body. The localised fatty deposits that existed prior to liposuction are unlikely to balloon up out of proportion to the surrounding areas.
Cosmetically speaking, successful liposuction is measured in centimetres/inches rather than kilograms or pounds. The fat and weight removed is not as important as the improvement in your body's shape and contour.
Our Surgeons recommend that Liposuction should only be considered after dieting and exercise have failed to achieve the desired look and results.
After your procedure you may feel drowsy from the anaesthetic. It is important to have someone drive you home and stay overnight. On this evening we recommend you rest. You will be given medication to take to prevent swelling and infection.
You are provided with an after hours direct number in the event you may have any questions or concerns you wish to speak to us about. The next day or within a few days you must come back to the Clinic for your first post-operative check.
You may experience some discomfort and stiffness initially (a little like having done a strenuous gym workout), but this will gradually disappear. The puffiness, tenderness and bruising (if any) of the treated area will generally disappear in 1 to 2 weeks. Most patients tolerate the discomfort without the need for pain medication. However, if you feel discomfort for a few days this is usually well managed by simple pain medications.
You will be required to wear a compression garment for at least 4 weeks (and up to 6 weeks for optimum benefit) after your procedure. Your Surgeon and Nurses will supply this garment to you. They are made out of a strong lycra type material and are designed to hide under your clothing so no one need know you are wearing them.
Following the first day we recommend you walk for at least 30 minutes each day and otherwise continue with your normally activities. If you should go on a long car or plane trip, you must walk for at least 5 minutes every hour during the trip. You can return to non-strenuous work within 2 days. However you should wait at least 10 days before attempting more intense activity and if any discomfort is experienced with any activity it should be discontinued.
Our Surgeons and Nurses will continue to monitor your recovery through a number of post-operative check-ups and are available at any time if you have questions or concerns.
As every patient we see has different requirements, it is difficult to provide standardised pricing as each procedure is tailored for each individual patient's situation. As a guide, prices for Liposuction start from $3,160 for one area.
During your consultation your Surgeon will discuss with you the best options for you. You are then provided with a quote so you know exactly what is involved in your procedure and what it will cost.
Our philosophy is simple. We want you to be fully informed, and we want you to understand all your options and have one accurate price quoted once. Consultation fees may apply.
There is no need for you to obtain a referral from your own doctor to see one of our Surgeons. Generally we are able to book you in to see one of our Surgeons in 7 to 14 days.
