Laser genesis explained
Laser genesis treatment is an innovative cosmetic procedure that is used to refresh the skin from the inside out. This non-invasive and comfortable treatment uses micro-pulses of laser energy to gently heat the uppermost layer of the skin. Unlike other lasers which target the epidermis with ablative energy, laser genesis skin therapy focuses on the upper dermis to reach the cellular layer where collagen and elastin are produced.
This treatment may help in smoothening the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines. It enables collagen remodelling as it stimulates collagen. Other skin concerns such as acne scarring and pigmentation are also treatable with the use of laser genesis. Typical uses of laser technology may include the reduction of scarring, redness and improvements in rosacea. It may help slow down the signs of ageing and potentially reveal smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Before

After

Areas that can be treated
The laser genesis treatment is aimed at addressing signs of ageing. This laser technology may be beneficial for individuals who prefer a gentle treatment to address redness, including Rosacea.
The Laser Genesis treatment may help address uneven skin tone and large pores, among other skin conditions like uneven skin texture. This quick and painless laser handpiece procedure is especially recommended to improve the appearance of fine lines on areas of your face and décolletage. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to premature ageing. The genesis treatment aims to stimulate collagen production, which may help address signs of ageing and potentially reveal smoother skin.

Preparing for laser genesis treatment
While laser genesis treatment is a non-invasive procedure, some patients may find skin preparation prior to the treatment beneficial.
- We recommend a good skincare regime at least 2 weeks before the treatment.
- No spray tan on the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before the laser treatment.
- For optimal skin health, eat a balanced diet of fresh fruit, vegetables and plenty of fluids.
- Clean your skin and ensure you are free of makeup, lotions and oils as products on the skin can trigger adverse reactions from the laser.
What happens during laser genesis treatments
Laser Genesis treatments aim to address signs of ageing by potentially increasing the skin’s collagen production through the use of micro-pulse laser technology. What sets Laser Genesis apart from other laser treatments is that it gently heats up the uppermost layers of the skin, increasing collagen production while breaking down damaged capillaries. The treatment aims to reduce the pores on the skin’s surface, potentially revealing smoother, more even-textured skin.
Risks & side effects
As with all cosmetic procedures, there are potential risks and side effects to be aware of. Some patients who have undergone Laser Genesis have reported the following side effects post-treatment.
- Redness and Swelling. Following the treatment, it is not uncommon to experience a degree of redness of the skin and swelling of the treated areas. This usually lasts between 1-2 hours.
- Warm sensation and discomfort. The most noticeable change from the Laser treatment is a warm sensation due to the nature of the laser heating technology. Apply a cold compress to alleviate any pain. This will subside within due course.
- Skin Wound. While it is rare, there have been known cases of lasers causing a blister or skin wound. This can be the case for those darker skin types. While it is rare, the wound itself may take 5-10 days to heal and should be monitored carefully.
- Infection. Despite the Laser treatment being non-invasive, there is still a rare risk of infection. However, should a blister or skin infection develop, notify the clinic or seek medical help immediately.
Recovery & Downtime
The Laser Genesis treatment, which is typically quick, is popular among some patients. Recovery times post-treatment and downtime can vary.
We do emphasize that sun exposure be avoided immediately after treatment so as to minimize sun damage. If you do go outdoors, make-up and sunscreen of SPF 30 and above can be applied.
