Minimally Invasive Vein Treatment – No Hospital, No General Anaesthetic, Walk-In Walk-Out. Medicare Rebates May Apply.
Our specialist phlebologist will assess your veins with diagnostic ultrasound and recommend the most effective, minimally invasive treatment plan – with upfront pricing and no obligation.
Me Clinic was one of the first clinics in Australia to offer Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA). With 35+ years of experience and over 60,000 non-surgical treatments performed, we are one of Melbourne’s most established vein treatment clinics.
Our phlebologist Dr Tim French brings 12 years of dedicated vein experience and over 5,000 vein procedures. He holds specialist qualifications in Phlebology, Ultrasound in Phlebology, and Surgical Anatomy – ensuring expert diagnosis and treatment.
From your initial ultrasound assessment through treatment and follow-up, everything happens in-clinic under local anaesthetic. No hospital admission. No general anaesthetic. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
We publish our pricing upfront so there are no surprises. Many EVLA procedures qualify for Medicare rebates, significantly reducing your out-of-pocket costs. We’ll confirm your eligibility at your assessment.

Leg/comfort icon Eliminate the aching, heaviness, cramping, and throbbing that varicose veins cause. Most patients notice significant relief within days of treatment.
Clock icon All treatments are performed in-clinic under local anaesthetic. There’s no hospital stay, no general anaesthetic, and most patients walk out and resume daily activities immediately.
Shield/medical icon Untreated varicose veins can lead to skin changes, ulceration, blood clots, and chronic venous insufficiency. Early treatment protects your long-term vascular health.
Legs/appearance icon Remove bulging, twisted, and discoloured veins from your legs. Regain the confidence to wear shorts, skirts, and swimwear without self-consciousness.

You may be an ideal candidate for varicose vein treatment if you:
The gold-standard for treating larger varicose veins. A laser fibre is inserted into the affected vein under ultrasound guidance, sealing it closed from the inside. Performed under local anaesthetic, walk-in walk-out. Me Clinic was one of the first in Australia to offer this treatment. Price: From $4,200 (Medicare rebates may apply).
A medical solution is injected directly into smaller varicose veins and spider veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade. Quick, effective, and no anaesthetic required. Ideal for surface-level veins. Price: From $435 per session.
For deeper veins that aren’t visible on the surface, ultrasound imaging guides the injection with precision. This treats veins that standard sclerotherapy can’t reach — often the hidden “feeder” veins causing visible varicose veins. Price: From $640 per session
Fine, web-like veins on the legs and face are treated with targeted micro-sclerotherapy or laser. These superficial veins respond quickly to treatment, with visible improvement after just one to two sessions. Price: From $435 per session.
Every treatment journey begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment including duplex ultrasound mapping. Dr French identifies the source of your vein problems – not just the symptoms – to create a targeted treatment plan. Price: Complimentary initial consultation
Medical-grade compression stockings are prescribed as part of your treatment plan to support healing and optimise results. Compression therapy is used alongside procedures – not as a standalone substitute for treatment. Price: Included in treatment plans / available separately
Compression stockings manage symptoms temporarily but do nothing to fix the underlying venous insufficiency. EVLA permanently seals the faulty vein, redirecting blood flow to healthy veins and eliminating the problem at its source.
EVLA has a 95%+ success rate and is endorsed by international vascular guidelines as the first-line treatment for varicose veins. Unlike cosmetic-only clinics that treat surface veins without addressing the deeper cause, our approach uses diagnostic ultrasound to identify and treat the source of reflux.
Dr Tim French is a qualified phlebologist with specialist training in vein disease, diagnostic ultrasound, and surgical anatomy. Every treatment is medically indicated, not just cosmetically motivated – meaning Medicare rebates may apply for eligible patients.
Because our treatments are medically necessary (not purely cosmetic), many patients qualify for Medicare rebates on EVLA and related procedures. Cosmetic-only clinics cannot offer this. We confirm your eligibility upfront so you know exactly what you’ll pay.

Varicose veins occur when the one-way valves inside your veins weaken or fail, allowing blood to pool and the vein to enlarge. Contributing factors include genetics (family history is the strongest predictor), pregnancy, prolonged standing or sitting, age, and hormonal changes. Over 30% of the Australian population is affected. While lifestyle changes can slow progression, once the valves are damaged, they cannot repair themselves – which is why medical treatment is often the most effective solution.
EVLA is performed under local anaesthetic, so you’ll feel minimal discomfort – most patients describe a slight pressure or warmth during the procedure. It’s far less painful than traditional vein stripping surgery. After treatment, mild tenderness or bruising is normal and typically resolves within 1–2 weeks. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the experience is.
An EVLA procedure typically takes 45–60 minutes per leg. Sclerotherapy sessions take 20–30 minutes. You’ll walk out of the clinic immediately afterward – there’s no recovery room, no overnight stay. Most patients schedule their treatment during a lunch break or take just one day off work.
Yes – if your varicose veins are causing symptoms such as pain, swelling, skin changes, or ulceration, your EVLA treatment may be eligible for Medicare rebates. Dr French will assess your eligibility during your consultation and provide you with an accurate out-of-pocket cost estimate before you commit to any treatment. A GP referral is required for Medicare claims.
Varicose veins are larger, raised, and often rope-like – they sit deeper in the leg and are caused by valve failure in the venous system. Spider veins are smaller, flat, web-like veins visible on the skin’s surface. Both can be treated at Me Clinic, but they require different approaches. Varicose veins typically need EVLA or ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, while spider veins respond well to standard sclerotherapy. During your assessment, Dr French will identify exactly which veins need treatment and recommend the right approach.
This depends on the severity and extent of your vein disease. Many patients achieve excellent results with a single EVLA session for each affected leg, followed by one or two sclerotherapy sessions for any remaining smaller veins. Dr French will outline your full treatment plan – including the expected number of sessions and total cost – at your initial assessment.
Varicose veins are a progressive condition – they don’t improve on their own and typically worsen over time. Left untreated, they can lead to chronic leg swelling, skin discolouration (venous eczema), hardening of the skin around the ankle, and in severe cases, venous leg ulcers and blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). Early treatment is simpler, more effective, and less costly than managing advanced venous disease.
