Septoplasty Surgery

(also known as Deviated Septum surgery)

Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to repair and correct the septum, which is the cartilage wall separating the nostrils. A deviated septum can cause breathing difficulties and other nasal problems. The Septoplasty procedures straighten the cartilage wall to optimise breathing function and also ensure a straighter cartilage wall between the nostrils.

A Septoplasty procedure and a Rhinoplasty procedure can be undertaken at the same time to achieve the ultimate aesthetic and functional improvement for the nose. The benefit of having both procedures done together is the aesthetic results and function of the nose can both be improved (as well as cost savings). In addition the recovery time would essentially be the same for both procedures as it would be for just one procedure.

We have over 30 years of Cosmetic Surgery experience and our Surgeons will examine you and discuss your requirements and expectations and best advise you on getting the most out of your procedure.

What should I expect after Septoplasty Surgery?

After your procedure you may feel drowsy from the anaesthetic. It is important to have someone drive you home and stay overnight. On this evening we recommend you rest.

You are provided with the an after hours direct number in the event you may have any questions or concerns you wish to speak to us about.

The next day or within a few days you must come back to our Clinic for your first post-operative check.

After your Septoplasty Surgery it is anticipated that you should be up and walking in around a day or so. There may be some swelling and bruising under the eyes but this should go away within seven days.

You must ensure that you do not undertake any strenuous work or exercise activities for the first week or so. Sutures are removed after five or six days, and most people can return to work 7 to 10 days after undergoing Septoplasty Surgery.

Our Surgeons and Nurses will continue to monitor your recovery through a number of post-operative check-ups and are available at any time if you have questions or concerns.

How Much Does it Cost?

As every patient we see has different requirements, it is difficult to provide standardised pricing as each procedure is tailored for each individual patient's requirements. During your consultation your Surgeon will discuss with you the best options for you. You are then provided with a quote so you know exactly what is involved in your procedure and what it will cost.

Our philosophy is simple. We want you to be fully informed, and we want you to understand all your options and have one accurate price quoted once. Consultation fees may apply.

There is no need for you to obtain a referral from your own doctor to see one of our Surgeons. Generally we are able to book you in to see one of our surgeons in 7 to 14 days.
