Dermal Filler Treatments

As each year passes, our body’s ability to produce collagen declines, resulting in a loss of this beautiful protein from our skin and tissue. This volume loss leaves behind lines and furrows. Our facial movements like smiling and frowning also create wrinkles on our faces. Add to that other factors such as sun exposure, smoking and lifestyle choices and you have a string of lines and wrinkles over time.

While lines and wrinkles are an unavoidable part of the ageing process, dermal filler treatments may help reduce the appearance of fine lines, potentially contributing to a refreshed look.

Surgical Warning: Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

How do Dermal Fillers Work?

As one of the most commonly performed cosmetic treatments, dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable that may help to rejuvenate and reshape the skin around the face, potentially reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The effectiveness and cost can vary.

This non-invasive procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in a fast and effective manner. Dermal fillers involve injecting small amounts of filler into the skin. This may supplement the collagen lost by the skin and potentially reduce the appearance of lines and furrows. The ingredients then bind with the water in your skin to fill out lines and furrows and restore elasticity and fullness, to create healthy, natural-looking skin.

What Areas Can You Treat With Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are highly versatile and can be used on multiple areas of the face, including:

  • Cheek fillers
  • Lips
  • Mouth lines and creases (Marionette lines)
  • Smile lines, Laugh lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Nose (for reshaping)
  • Chin
  • Jowls
  • Brow
  • Neck
  • Frown lines
  • Jawline
  • Crow’s feet
  • Dynamic and static lines and creases
  • Eyebrow lift
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Skin depressions
  • Facial recontouring
  • Temples (hollows).

Most common uses of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment used by skilled surgeons and registered nurses for various purposes. At Me Clinic, some of the most common uses for dermal fillers include wrinkle reduction on areas of the face and facial contouring including correcting asymmetry. Dermal fillers are also used to increase facial volume in cheekbones, enhance facial features, lip enhancement and correct augmentation. This non-invasive treatment offers some effects of a facelift without surgery.

Wrinkles and Facial Contours

Achieve a more youthful appearance by restoring your facial features through effective facial fillers. The filler enhances the natural contours of the face by adding volume to the cheeks, brow, tear troughs, and chin while reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles to provide an overall more youthful appearance.

Types of Dermal Filler Treatments

At Me Clinic, we use either hyaluronic acid or autologous fillers for your dermal filler treatments.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common type of dermal filler treatment and are made from a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that gives the skin moisture, volume and elasticity.

Autologous Fillers

As a more natural alternative to dermal filler injections, Autologous Fat Transplantation is another type of filler option similar to lip and facial fillers. These anti-wrinkle injections work by extracting fat from another area of your body by liposuction, before reinserting it into the face and cheeks with the use of injectors. This anti-wrinkle treatment provides an effective, non-allergenic way to re-contour your face.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

The effects of dermal fillers are only temporary. We do recommend an ongoing treatment plan to avoid dramatic or sudden changes to your appearance to ensure you continuously look your best.

Hyaluronic acid fillers generally last between 6 to 12 months while autologous fillers can last many years. The amount of time the filler lasts before another treatment will vary between patients and the treatment area.

What should I expect following a Dermal Filler treatment?

You may experience some redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated areas following your dermal filler treatment. These side effects are normal and resolve quickly. It helps to apply a cool compress to the treated areas to relieve swelling and any bruising.

We recommend you avoid strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol and exposure to extremes of hot and cold as it opens up the blood vessels and may increase bruising or swelling. During this downtime, it is best to avoid the use of cosmetics, moisturisers and products containing AHAs, BHAs and Retinoids.

Facials, facial waxing, chemical peels or laser treatments are to be avoided for 10 to 14 days after treatment. Our team will be available if you have any questions or concerns over allergic reactions following the procedure.

How much do Dermal Fillers cost?

At Me Clinic, the cost of dermal filler treatments can vary based on individual needs and the specific treatment plan. Please consult with our team for a personalised quote. There are, however, a range of factors that will influence the final cost of treatment, such as the type and amount of filler used according to the treatment areas on your face.

As the requirements can vary significantly between patients, you must arrange a consultation with one of our practitioners to obtain a personalised quote detailing a treatment plan for you.
