A Breast Reduction and Lift is an optimal procedure for the many women with large or sagging breasts who suffer from back, neck and shoulder pain every day. This along with the unwanted attention large breasts can bring to the chest cause many women to consider looking for a surgical solution to this issue. The Me Clinic offers breast reduction and lift procedures, which may help some women experiencing discomfort due to large or sagging breasts.
A reduction with lift is a form of breast surgery that can create a range of aesthetic looks with various results. We can discuss your desired look during a consultation to understand your expectations and discuss potential outcomes.

What are the benefits of a breast reduction and lift?
The reduction and lift procedure may result in changes to your appearance and feelings of comfort, depending on individual circumstances. It can provide relief from back, neck and shoulder pain while also lessening any skin irritation under the breasts.
The goal is a more preferable size, shape and aesthetic that allows for greater movement and activity. Some women report increased confidence and comfort in their clothing after the procedure, but results can vary.
How do I know if I am the right candidate for this procedure?
There are a few situations to consider before deciding on a breast reduction and lift, including:
- Waiting until breast development, childbirth and breastfeeding have stopped as your ability to breastfeed may be affected
- Changes in your breasts as a result of pregnancy, or significant weight loss or gain can alter the outcome of the procedure
- Smokers are at an increased risk of complications
You may be a candidate for this procedure if you are physically healthy, your breasts are fully developed, and you are experiencing discomfort or limitations due to the size of your breasts. However, individual suitability for the procedure can only be determined through a consultation with a qualified health practitioner. This can include limitations to your physical activity and exercise, back, neck and shoulder pain or regular indentations from bra straps. If you are plagued by skin irritation beneath the breast crease, stretched skin or nipples that rest below the breast crease with enlarged areolas due to stretched skin, this may be a suitable procedure for you.
It is important to note that the shape and size of your breasts prior to surgery will influence the procedure and the outcome.

What are the risks involved with breast reduction and lift surgery?
The risks applicable to the breast reduction procedure are the same as those for any major surgery. These involve a risk of potential bleeding, infection or adverse reactions to the anaesthesia. Bruising, scarring and a loss of sensation in the nipples are also risks to consider.
We will explain all possible risks to you during your consultation to ensure that you are completely comfortable with everything involved in the surgery and recovery process.
What happens during the breast reduction procedure?
This procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. Incisions and possible liposuction will be used to remove any excess fat to resize your breasts. A gauze dressing will be required after surgery, along with medication for pain and antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection.
When can I resume normal activities?
We recommend that you restrict physical activity for two to four weeks. It can sometimes take a few months for the swelling to reduce, and the final results of the procedure will become more apparent. However, individual results can vary. You will likely feel sore and bruised immediately after surgery, which is to be expected, and will subside naturally. Our team will be on-hand should you need any assistance.
