5 Minutes with Dr. Omarjee
Dr. Ahmed Omarjee is a cosmetic physician who has been with the Me Clinic since 2006. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting him, you will be instantly impressed by his warm and caring manner.
Dr. Omarjee took some time out of his busy schedule seeing patients to talk a little bit more about what he does and why he does it.
Why did you get into Cosmetic Medicine?
One of the main reasons that I got into cosmetic medicine was to help people enhance their appearance and self-confidence. This could be through injectables, varicose vein treatments or other anti-ageing procedures.
By making minor changes, I am able to help make people feel more comfortable. This can help with their self-esteem, jobs and relationships.
What is the best aspect about your job?
Seeing people smile.
For example, I had a patient who was a 16-year-old girl who had a large keloid scar, sort of a large raised scar on her leg. She was embarrassed to wear her school dresses or school skirts. After about three treatments with some injections into that scar, the scar flattened.
The next time she came to see me, she had a massive smile and was wearing a skirt. Basically, seeing people smile and giving them confidence again, that is what makes my day.
What types of procedures do you perform?
I predominantly do non-surgical treatments. They include anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, varicose veins, spider veins, cosmetic mole removal, skin cancer removal, Fraxel laser resurfacing, skin checks and scar revisions.
Do you have any preventative tips to help slow down the ageing process?
Definitely, there are a couple of things that you should be doing to help slow down the ageing process.
Number one, wear sunscreen. Number two, give up the smokes. Number three, exercise regularly and have a balanced diet. Number four, use topical agents like serums containing vitamins A, B and C.
The next option is to come and see me for preventative cosmetic treatments like anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Antiwrinkle injections can be used to reduce fine lines. Dermal fillers can improve volume in one's face which we lose as we get older.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
