Liposuction removes unwanted excess fat, improving one's appearance by smoothing irregular body shapes. The process is both safe and effective, offering results that improve both physical appearance and mental confidence.
Liposuction can target areas under the chin, neck, upper arms, breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, and more. The following are the main types of liposuction procedures:
Tumescent liposuction
Liposuction via fluid injection is one of the most common types of liposuction, and is often the one being spoken about when referring to “traditional liposuction.”. It involves the injection of a medicated solution into the areas that you wish to target, after which the fat is removed. In some cases, the solution can be up to three times the amount of fat that will be removed.
The solution is made up of a mixture of local anaesthetic, epinephrine (which contracts blood vessels), and an intravenous salt solution. These three elements help to numb the area, reduce the loss of blood, bruising, swelling and remove the fat more easily. While this is an effective process, it can take a little longer than other methods.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)
This method uses ultrasonic vibrations to liquefy the fat cells, which are then vacuumed out. UAL can be done above the surface of the skin using a special emitter, or below the surface with a small, heated cannula.
This method is more commonly used when there is a need to remove fat from dense, fibrous areas such as the upper back. In some cases, it can be combined with the tumescent technique for greater precision.
Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL)
A third option uses laser energy to liquefy the fat cells in a similar way to UAL. Much like the above process, the cells are liquefied and vacuumed out or drained through small tubes. The cannula used during LAL is a bit smaller, making LAL suitable for confined areas.
This may be the method used when targeting areas such as the chin, jowls, and face. The energy that is emitted from the laser stimulates collagen production, which helps to prevent skin sag and maintain skin structure.
