Liposuction at Me Clinic is a surgical procedure that removes unwanted fat from problem areas of your body to achieve a more pleasing and proportionate shape. Liposuction specifically targets problem areas of stubborn fat deposits that won’t respond to diet and exercise.
At me clinic Melbourne we generally perform Tumescent Liposuction, which can be completed in a short period of time, offering a fast recovery with minimal discomfort and bruising.
Tumescent Liposuction is performed under either local or general anaesthetic. During the Liposuction procedure the operative area is numbed using a large volume of very dilute anaesthetic. Adrenaline is also added to reduce blood loss and increase the anaesthetic effect. The recovery period is about 2 weeks. Most people can return to work within a few days & get back to normal activity in 2 weeks but each person is different.
The surgeon then makes a small incision in an inconspicuous location on the skin and inserts a specially-designed steel cannula attached to a suction device. Fat cells are then delicately extracted from the area, ensuring other tissues are not damaged.
Liposculpture is also usually performed when undergoing Liposuction. This involves sculpting and shaping the body while fat cells are being removed, to provide a more proportionate shape and a smooth final result.
Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. People suffering from obesity should endeavour to lose weight through a healthy diet and exercise. Liposuction may then be useful to address stubborn fat deposits in certain areas.

At Me Clinic Melbourne our experienced and skilled surgeons also offer a range of other modified modern Liposuction methods to remove fat cells, including:
Our cosmetic surgeons will recommend the right Liposuction treatment for you based on your physique and what you want to achieve.
Liposuction can be very effective at targeting stubborn areas of localised fat deposits that will not respond to a healthy diet and exercise.
Yes—Liposuction permanently removes fat cells to improve your body’s contour and shape.
The body stops creating new fat cells after puberty, so if you notice weight gain after undergoing the procedure, it’s due to the expansion of the remaining fat cells rather than the formation of new fat cells.
Liposuction can be performed on the abdomen, waist, back, hips, legs, inner and outer thighs, calves, ankles, upper arms, face, mons pubis and male chest (man boobs). We are able to treat multiple areas in a single procedure.
As every patient’s requirements are different, it is difficult to provide standardised pricing. The following table provides an indication of what you can expect Liposuction to cost at me clinic in Melbourne.

While we strongly recommend patients only undertake surgery when they are in a financial position to afford it, we understand that some patients feel they are unable to wait until they’re in a stronger financial position to undergo surgery for various reasons. In this case, finance can be accessed through a number of financial institutions such as Mac Credit. Alternatively, we can provide a payment plan where payment can be made progressively in instalments.

Lipo is a safe procedure performed on thousands of men and women each year, however as with any procedure, it’s common to experience some side effects (see our medical disclaimer).
The recovery period following the procedure will vary according to the individual. Patients usually experience some bruising and swelling and report discomfort similar to that following a strenuous gym work out, which usually subsides in a few days. Swelling and tenderness should disappear in one to two weeks following the procedure.
Generally, most patients are able to return to non-strenuous work within two to three days following the procedure, however it can take up to seven days. We recommend that patients wait at least ten days before attempting more intense activities such as gym work, competitive sporting activities or heavy physical work.
We also recommend that compression garments are worn for four to six weeks following the procedure to achieve optimal results.
At me clinic, we provide a quality patient recovery & aftercare program where we will conduct several post-operative visits during your recovery period. During each visit, our trained nurses and/or surgeons examine the treated area/s and change any dressings or attend to any other issues if needed.
Patients usually have their first post-operative check within the first few days following the procedure, as well as additional checks during each of the following two weeks. Because of our commitment to a high standard of patient care, there is no limit to the number of post-operative checks you can have.

Some patients carry excess fat in their chins and neck; the double chin effect. As a result they lack definition between their necks and chin.
For both men and women these problems develop with age, weight gain or are simply genetic.
In some case a normal Liposuction procedure may not be sufficient to remove the desired amount of fat from patients or achieve the anticipated result.
With these cases a Mega Liposuction procedure may be more suitable to achieve the results the patients are seeking. Click more to find out how our expert team in our Melbourne or Sydney clinic can help give you a better shape.
Many patients elect to have Fat Transfers to part of their body and legs to enhance their shape, replace lost volume or correct trauma and injuries.
The addition of the patients own fat complements the existing fat in the body and when transferred and grafted it provides a natural feeling and looking volume or shape change.
Over the years with getting older, weight fluctuations with putting on significant weight and then extreme weight loss can lead to excess skin in the arms.
The excess skin in the upper arms can be corrected with Upper Arm Lift Surgery or Brachioplasty surgery. Click more to find out how our surgeons in Melbourne can help you.
