Otoplasty Surgery

(also known as Ear Pinning, Ear Pin back or Ear Reduction Surgery)

Otoplasty is a procedure that can help change the shape of your ears with minimal disruption and discomfort. The procedure allows you to decrease or reshape the size of your ears, giving you greater control over your appearance.

An Otoplasty procedure can help restore confidence in your appearance by

  • Reducing the visibility of large or protruding ears
  • Reshaping distorted or damaged ears.
  • Changing the shape of ears

We have over 30 years of Cosmetic Surgery and we have performed hundreds of successful Otoplasty procedures.

How does Otoplasty Surgery work?

An Otoplasty is a procedure that changes the shape, size and projection of your ears. The nature of the procedure varies according to the patients' specific needs but may involve reducing the size of large ears, setting ears closer to the head or reshaping the cartilage to change their appearance.

Because no single person has two identical ears, Otoplasty is not designed to give patients symmetrical or identical ears. However, Otoplasty Surgery can help give the patient's face a more balanced or symmetrical appearance.

Each procedure is tailored to your individual needs by your Surgeon.

What should I expect after Otoplasty Surgery?

After your procedure you may feel drowsy from the anaesthetic. It is important to have someone drive you home and stay overnight. On this evening we recommend you rest. You are provided with an after hours direct number in the event you may have any questions or concerns you wish to speak to us about.

Following Surgery the ears are bandaged overnight for protection. The patient must return to the me clinic the following day or so for a post-operative review where the bandages and dressings are removed.

The ears may need to re dressed if necessary or a headband can be fitted to protect and support the ears. You are able to shower and wash your hair as normal the following day after surgery.

The headband is worn for between 1 to 3  weeks, and then it is only worn at nights for further support for 4 to 8 weeks. Our Surgeons and Nurses will continue to monitor your recovery through a number of post-operative check-ups and are available at any time if you have questions or concerns.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of the procedure varies as every patient's ear problem is different. As such it is difficult to provide standardised pricing as each procedure is tailored for each individual patient's requirements.

During your no obligation consultation your Surgeon discusses with you the best options for you. You are then provided with a quote so you know exactly what is involved in your procedure and what it will cost.

Our philosophy is simple. We want you to be fully informed, and we want you to understand all your options and have one accurate price quoted once. Consultation fees may apply.

There is no need for you to obtain a referral from your own doctor to see one of our surgeons. Generally we are able to book you in to see one of our Surgeons in 7 to 14 days.
