Labiaplasty cost and prices in Australia

At Me Clinic, we are regularly asked about the cost of labiaplasty surgery. Cost is a key consideration when planning any type of cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery, so it’s important you have a realistic picture so you can decide if it’s a feasible option for you.

While the cost of labiaplasty surgery will vary according to the individual procedure, labiaplasty surgery at Me Clinic starts from around $5,600. It is important to note this is a general guide only, as the cost of a labiaplasty procedure can be influenced by a range of factors.

A more accurate costing can be ascertained during your initial consultation and assessment where you can ask questions and discuss your cosmetic surgery goals and aspirations.

What costs are involved in surgery?

Factors influencing the cost of plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery include the complexity of the procedure, the experience of the surgeon, and hospital or theatre fees. We include all associated costs in the price we quote during your consultation. Surgeon fees are largely dictated by the amount of theatre time required and the extent of post-surgical care needed. Me Clinic surgeons are qualified and experienced.

Cost of associated surgeries

During the consultation, your cosmetic surgeon will be able to assess your condition, discuss the various treatment options and provide a quote based on your personal requirements. The labiaplasty procedure aims to decrease the size of the labia minora (inner labia) so that it is flush with the labia majora (outer lips and outer part of the female genitalia). This procedure involves utilising several different surgical techniques depending on the patient’s specific situation.

Me Clinic provides a wide range of surgical cosmetic procedures that can create a more pleasing genital appearance, diminish physical discomfort, make a person less self-conscious, and improve the enjoyment of sexual intercourse. Some vaginal rejuvenation and repair procedures can be performed without general anaesthesia. Me Clinic procedures include:

Vaginoplasty

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Hymen Repair

Vaginal Laser Resurfacing

G Spot Enhancement

Labiaplasty surgery can usually be performed in around one to two hours, or longer if it is combined with a secondary procedure. It is usually performed as a day-surgery procedure with a short recovery time and the patient being able to return home on the same day.

Anaesthetist fees

If required, labiaplasty can be conducted using a general anaesthetic. This includes the services of a qualified anaesthetist. Me Clinic only uses the services of anaesthetists who are members of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA). The ASA website (www.asa.org.au) provides more information about how anaesthetist fees are calculated.

Candidates for labiaplasty surgery

Women often undergo the procedure for either functional or cosmetic reasons, usually to alter the appearance of a naturally large or irregular labia, to restore labia augmentation following childbirth, or to avoid irritation, pain or discomfort experienced when performing certain activities.

Travelling overseas for surgery

Although cost is an important consideration, it is important that you don’t sacrifice good surgical results for the sake of affordability. It’s important to carefully research and consider the pros and cons of undergoing procedures overseas.

Safety – Stringent Australian standards don’t necessarily apply at overseas clinics. Safety should be a top priority with any surgical procedure.

Insurance – Complications that occur while overseas may not be covered by travel insurance, private health insurance or Medicare rebates. You may incur a lot of out-of-pocket expenses and additional hospital fees.

Post-Surgery Care – If undertaking surgery overseas, you may not have a high level of post-surgery aftercare or follow-up from a qualified doctor.

Labiaplasty procedures and techniques

Labiaplasty can be performed using a range of methods suited to the unique characteristics of each patient. Here are three of the most commonly-performed labiaplasty methods.

  1. The Trim method: An incision is made to remove the outer edge of the labia, which often results in scarring where the incision was made. It can be a suitable option for patients wanting to remove dark pigmented labia skin, or for patients with a thick or rough labia.
  2. The Wedge method: This technique involves a V-shaped section of the labia being removed and the edges positioned back together with dissolvable sutures. It results in a more natural shape with less scarring.
  3. The De-epithelialization method: A small section of excess tissue from the inner lip of the labia is removed before the edges are sutured together. It is a popular option because it reduces the length of the labia while leaving only minimal scarring and preserving the original labia contour.

There are additional methods that vary in terms of their complexity and cost. Combining labiaplasty with other procedures such as clitoral hood reduction or liposuction will also naturally impact the cost.
